Top 5 Destination Wedding Locations
I walked down the aisle among the most amazing tall sequoia trees, surrounded by a small group of intimate family and friends. It was my destination wedding in the woods. I loved it. I didn't need a large party, but I did want an amazing location. It was intimate and exactly what I was looking for.
I love exotic locations. I also love traveling. So if I get invited to photograph a destination wedding, I will jump on it. So I've compiled a list of my favorite countries for destination weddings and their unique advantages.
1. The Budget | Jamaica
It's all good in Jamaica man! Dreadlocks, beaches, and relaxing atmosphere are the expectations of this exotic location. Jamaica is great for it's all inclusive resorts at reasonable prices. It's typical that you can get an entire wedding package at a fraction of most other destination locations like Hawaii or similar. Beach wedding also seem to be super popular among destination weddings, making Jamaica a perfect option.
2. The Winery | Italy
Italy has the most amazing winery locations for weddings. Intimate and rustic in nature, the land leads you to wonder the grape vines. I love winery weddings (Temecula also has great wineries), and Italy has that old world culture to add to them. Italians know how to throw a party too! Another great option are the Greek wineries, which can get you out of the big cities and into the countryside (the more scenic areas of Greece).
3. The Populaire | France
Paris, France is the city of love! It's the most popular destination for weddings for it's romantic venues and nostalgic atmosphere. The streets are majestic, and the buildings have character. It's all about architecture and romantic rooms in France. And the SHOPPING! Can we just stop to admire all the shops on the way to the church?!
4. The Great Outdoors | New Zealand
New Zealand is one of my favorite places to visit. I love the great outdoors, and the islands have so many different outdoor options. The mountains are gorgeous, the rolling hillsides are picturesque, and there are plenty of out of the way locations for super quite weddings or elopements. My husband and I even honeymooned there. It would make a great location for those adventurous couples, with activities such as camping, bungee jumping, and sky diving.
5. The Unexpected | South Africa
South Africa is growing in popularity as a destination point for a lot of couples. I think it would absolutely beautiful to have a small safari wedding! Cape Town is also an amazing city full of so many different cultures. It can be also beneficial if you're wanting an off season wedding since it has the opposite seasons from the United States.
I hope this list helps give you suggestions or ideas for your destination wedding! I know traveling and seeing new experiences are my main #lifegoals with my husband, so getting started with the wedding seems like a perfect solution.
