Favorite Wedding Desserts
CHOCOLATE! I mean every time I think of cake, my mouth starts salivating and I need to check my pulse. I've seen some amazing desserts in my day, but there are a few that make weddings feel more personalized. Like all the sugar was meant solely for me (my plus one can have a little bit too). I'm pretty sure I need an intervention soon, but before that happens I want to talk to you all about my favorite desserts at the weddings I've been to.
1. Cupcakes
Cupcakes are the bomb. They are a mini cake for each person. No one gets left out, there's typically a myriad of flavors to satisfy every taste bud, and can I just say: icing! I'm not really a fan of fondant, so icing is the way to go and cupcakes are typically made with a healthy portion of icing. I like the ability to have different flavors and subtle combinations. My wedding had cupcakes (although it was a pain to get them). I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to go get a cupcake now when I'm done with this post. SO good.
2. Fruit Tarts
Fruit tarts are making a massive comeback in the world of sweet treats. For those of you in Los Angeles, you'll know what I mean when I say PORTOS! They have the most amazing fruit tarts in large pies. Every birthday in the city requires a trip out to them for the best sugary fruity goodness ever. I'd love to see more of them in weddings, as they've really only been making a comeback recently. They're all the rage in French weddings, and can be a great substitute for the crème brûlée.
3. Candy Dessert Bar
This is a popular one, and super easy to do. Set up all the different favorite candies into jars and add some fun bags that people can pick and choose their own dessert package. It's cheap, simple, and personable. I find though that you have to be careful with kids filling up all their pockets and leaving none for us adults. And by kids I mean my husband......
4. Macaroons
Another great option for incorporating multiple flavors, macaroons are small and delicate. Another staple for the French, I love the color coordination that can take place with these. I've heard they aren't that difficult to make yourself too (but don't take my work, I'm the worst baker).
I'm a big fan of anything made with sugar, and I could create a massive list of my favorite desserts for weddings. But I think I'll stop there and let you fantasize your chocolate and vanilla dreams. I'm going to go run and grab a cupcake!
