I recently flew back to my home state of Georgia to stay with family, hang with friends, and attend the Imaging USA conference. I reached out to my friends to see if anyone wanted some photos and heard from the Burdetts! I went to high school with both Karissa and Geoffrey, and its been so long since I’ve seen them. I hadn’t even met all of the kids! I was so happy to get to capture some family photos for them in a quick, slightly wet, session.
I love my cat babies. I don't know about you but my furry friends are a huge part of my life. I know, Kat's cats right?! (And a good many of you just barfed a little bit, it's okay) Sometimes I'm jealous because I want to sleep, eat, and hang all day, but I do my work to provide for their lifestyle. ;) They keep me sane, happy, and calm. Which, for my personality, is necessary to kill my anxiety. I just wanted to share my family and hope that you have something near and dear that keeps you calm and collected.
I am so entirely in love with my husband. I've never been so grateful for anything in my life. He stepped into my world and balanced me in ways I am only barely starting to perceive. I can only hope everyone can find someone like that. Trust me, it's worth the wait.
Our eyes meet and we both smile at a joke only we comprehend.
He helps me overcome my self-esteem issues.
I know what my husband is thinking most of the time. And he appreciates that I can anticipate his moves.
He dances like a white boy. It's adorable.
I've never met anyone who can keep me as calm as he does. I'm not saying I'm always calm with him (because Lord knows that's impossible), but he certainly adds that extra stress relief.
He wants the same things I do in life and happiness.
Thank you so much for being by one and only. You are the amazing addition that my soul had been lacking. Happy two year anniversary, my love.
Getting married to my best friend has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I can come home and see someone who knows me, protects me, and loves me for who and what I am. What's great is all the extra added benefits to marriage that can take you by surprise. Chore sharing, long talks into the night, and:
Through marriage I've gained more family.
I now have a sister and two brothers. I'm an only child, and figuring out sibling dynamics used to be SO confusing to me. To me my best friend is my sister (later she would ACTUALLY become my sister-in-law), and I've had to learn sibling relationships as I go. But it is so refreshing to have siblings! The advice and love that you can get from someone close in age to you is priceless.
I know that sometimes when you get married, the in-laws aren't the best. There can be the crazy mother-in-laws, or the weird sister. But I cherish those weird moments. These family members are a part of my husband's life, and were a huge factor in his upbringing. I love being a part of a new family, just as I know he is excited to be a part of mine.
Maui is a mixture of amazing beaches, tropical waterfalls, and strange desert climates. My husband's sister, Brie, lives in Lahaina with her family: Casey, Georgia, and baby Isaac. We decided to take a vacation to visit them and see Hawaii for the first time. It was magnificent. The water is so blue. The weather is so inviting. And the family time was fun too! I snapped some photos of family, which I'll share below but I cannot stress enough how much we needed this break from the mainland to relax and catch up. Life can get hectic, and it is so important to take some well deserved time for yourself and your family.
We did so many amazing things in Maui. We snorkeled, hiked, climbed, paddled and made waves! My husband golfed; I went to the spa. We saw a bajillion weddings that took place on the beaches every day. Every one was relaxed and time seemed to stand still.
Maui certainly captured our hearts and I have no doubt that we will be visiting again. It's hard to resist smiling faces, the beach, and the surf. I hope I can return to photograph a wedding here, I can imagine so many beautiful ideas and places to have a union.
